Life Long DEMOCRAT working for the Residents of Darby
Election day is Tuesday November 7, th, 2023 and this year, this election is more important than ever. We are at a critical stage where we need to seriously focus on fixing our borough. Over the last fifteen (20) years, we’ve seen a steady decline in services and our quality of life. It’s time we rescue it.
I am running for 2nd Ward Council y. I previously held this position from 1998 to 2006. I would like to have the honor of serving YOU the residents once again.
I have lived here all my life (60 years) and I plan on living here for the rest of my life. I have no alternative plans to seek higher office like most of the candidates and title holders do. I have one legitimate opponent and one who was barred from running as he did not file the proper paperwork (but he continues to campaign as if nothing happened).
Both are consumed with the “title” of Mayor and have alternative plans to run for higher office in Harrisburg.
My opponents are running for Mayor so they can use it as a “stepping stone” ….their hearts are not here in Darby.
My heart belongs to Darby Borough, our residents and our quality of life.
In the last 15 years things sure have changed…The current council concentrates on wearing their “titles” and not performing their sworn duties.
- Our streets are filled with trash and debris
- There are tons of abandoned cars , abandoned homes
- Our infrastructure is crashing.
- Is this how we want to live? Absolutely not.
What is the problem? Why is this happening? The major issue we are facing is absentee councilpersons! Several of our elected council members do not live in our town…so what would you expect? Their hearts are not here. If they were, they would LIVE HERE with us.
It’s time for a change…a REAL change…and EXPERIENCE MATTERS!
Some of you may remember when I was Mayor fifteen years ago. If you do, you know that I put my all into the position. I tried my best to address all issues 100% to the best of my ability. And I will continue that goal.
In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Mayor’s primary duty is to oversee the Police Department. That is where my experience is and that is where my passion lies. And that….is why it’s ever so important to have an EXPERIENCED person in the Criminal Justice System to lead our department so YOUR quality of life here improves.
- I have extensive experience in this field as well as my Temple University education in Criminal Justice.
- I have worked in the Criminal Justice system for many years. I’ve experienced and learned much.
- I have the ability to work well with our police department as I have for many years.
- I have also grown up quite a bit…with many of our senior officers and have watched them turn into professional as well as compassionate officers that truly care about our community.
For way too many years, we were under the thumb of some corrupt leaders in our department. They are gone now and our officers are now free to enforce laws as they should be enforced assist our residents and get to know our community as they need to. I’ve seen a huge difference in the last few months since we’ve had a change a leadership and it is commendable. I would like to return to this department and be a part of the change that is needed to improve our borough. With your support, WE can make that happen.
EXPERIENCE MATTERS and TRANSPARENCY is CRUCIAL to GOOD Government
Unfortunately, for the last several years, we have severely lacked transparency.
- Council and the current Mayor have been non-existent
- They keep the agenda’s and minutes of the meetings to a bare minimum.
- Our tax money is spent monthly on bills that we don’t see nor do we ever get the opportunity to see or question them before the council votes to pay them.
- Persons are hired in positions and their salary is never disclosed. Prime example – Councilwoman Janice Davis was hired as the Recreation Director. The position was never created and when she was hired, the salary was kept a secret.
-
Crime happens and we are unaware – notice is not given. With a new Chief in charge, I’m sure this will change if the experienced person is chosen to lead the department. Please browse my website to find out more about me, my experience, my positions on issues and information on this important election. Click on the menu items at the top of this page.
You will also find much information about our town, news items, council meeting minutes and agendas, see where YOUR tax money is going by looking at the monthly bills.
